The pea seeds were put in wet paper towels for pre-sprouting on March 8. Rootlets appeared only a few days later on March 11 and they were planted outside in an EarthBox on the balcony the same day.
Temperatures during pre-sprouting indoors were in the 70’s (Fahrenheit). Outside on the balcony, the peas now are experiencing temperatures in the 20’s to 50’s.
This picture was taken on March 22 - 15 days after the peas were started The pea seedlings have cheerfully popped out above the soil. I cut little openings in the Earthbox cover to allow them to grow upwards and get some sun.
These Oregon Sugar Pod peas are supposed to be ready for harvest 60-65 days after planting.
